Hi, my name is Art Helterbran Jr.I am the director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at the New York Film Academy.
My name is Diana Santi, I am the Director of the New York Film Academy in Florence.
Hi! My name is Martin Nikolov, and I am doing my semester abroad studying Acting for Film at the New York Film Academy in Australia.
Studying abroad I think can really enhance your stories, because you are just exposed to cultures and perspectives that you wouldn't be exposed to otherwise.
No matter what location you go to you are going to get a similar instruction that's all about hands-on learning, it's industry professionals.
We are always learning by doing, making projects 24/7 In filmmaking, you will be writing, directing, producing, and editing. You start from an idea and you develop it into a product that you can actually see.
The actors will collaborate with the filmmakers They will attend classes such as improvisation, voice, and movement, acting for the camera, and scene study They are constantly in front of the camera.
I think it's an incredibly cool thing that the New York Film Academy has this hands-on education. You get to work with cameras really early on
You manage to see a lot of the different acting techniques put into practice. It's so inspiring when you travel abroad, as a visual storyteller, you go to a beautiful location, and your storytelling mind

starts turning on overdrive, because you are like oh wow, how can I fit this thing into my film, where can I put this building into a scene?
In Florence, we are steps away from the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio. Every corner they turn, at every angle, there is either a statue or an amazing church facade I can't believe that there are thousands of years of history stretched out before me, and I am lucky enough to use this as the backdrop for some of my films.
People would love to have students shooting their movies, you know at their cafe, their gelato, or pizza place. Florence is a boutique city, and Paris is a metropolis.
In Paris, we are located at "La FĂ©mis", which is the most prestigious film school in France. You can base your story on an amazing city like Paris, one of the most beautiful, recognizable cities in the world.
You feel like you are part of the movie. NYFA Australia is definitely a place I would recommend, just because of the sheer amount of things you will be able to do here.
Between exploring Australia, which you will have the time for, and being able to put all the theory into practice, and being able to just be at the beach in your free time.
It's an awesome experience. We are really tight into the Village Roadshow Studios there. My experience at Village Roadshow was actually pretty intense, I had two big shots there. It definitely felt super professional, it felt hands-on. It was a very important part of my 12 weeks here.

Traveling to these places makes you a better storyteller because you are more present. Everybody shares their experience with the other, and so everybody grows together.
I was able to collaborate with a lot of different people. Everyone has their own stories, and everyone has their own way of sharing their experience. I've made so many connections over the years, students, faculty, and colleagues that pretty much anywhere I go on the planet, there is someone from the New York Film Academy there.

It will inspire an artist, no doubt about it. Everywhere you turn, if you are not inspired
